Abstract

Background: Cerebral palsy presents heterogeneous motor impairments and rehabilitation needs. Expanding physiotherapy options require contextual interpretation of functional benefits, comparative effectiveness, and clinical applicability. Objective: To narratively synthesize established physiotherapy interventions and emerging rehabilitation techniques for cerebral palsy, examining reported outcomes, limitations, and implications for individualized care. Methods: PubMed and Google Scholar were searched, with Physiopedia consulted as a supplementary educational resource. The principal publication window was 2015–2025, and reference lists were examined. Literature was selected for relevance to intervention application and functional outcomes. Primary studies were distinguished from secondary evidence, and findings were organized thematically by intervention and functional domain without statistical pooling. Results: The principal characteristics table summarized 15 primary-study entries, with additional intervention evidence described separately; a total included-study count was not established. Populations included infants, children, adolescents, and young adults, with some mixed developmental-delay samples. Task-oriented training, strengthening, gait training, and constraint-induced movement therapy were associated with improvements in selected motor and functional outcomes. Comparative interpretation depended on treatment dose, comparator, and population. Reported improvements following neurodevelopmental therapy did not independently establish superiority. Robotic rehabilitation, aquatic therapy, and hippotherapy required more complete study-level synthesis. Incomplete extraction of sample sizes, effect estimates, and uncertainty, together with selective literature identification and heterogeneous interventions, limited comparative conclusions. Conclusion: Physiotherapy offers potential benefits across specific functional domains, but this review does not establish a universally superior approach. Individualized treatment selection requires goal-specific interpretation of evidence. Better-reported comparative studies should assess sustained function, participation, safety, and practical applicability
